Smoky Mountain Relic Room's profile

Exploring the Mammoth at the Smoky Mountain Relic Room

Owned by Chase Pipes, the Smoky Mountain Relic Room in Sevierville, Tennessee, houses a diverse array of artifacts and other historical finds. The Smoky Mountain Relic Room operates from downstairs of the family-owned Smoky Mountain Knife Works. In addition, it offers visitors and enthusiasts opportunities to learn about the Americas and the woolly mammoth.

Pipes and his colleagues sample 15,000-year-old woolly mammoth meat in one of its videos. The woolly mammal is a relative of the elephant. However, thanks to fossils found in Europe, Asia, and Northern America, the public knows that the extinct woolly mammoth was covered in hair and had large tusks.

Pipes shows the animal’s leg, which is on exhibit for public view. Individuals interested in the wolly mammoth and related topics can find educational clips from the Relic Room’s Chasing History, a show about prehistory in the Americas.

The Smoky Mountain Relic goes to great lengths to ensure all products sold are legally collected on private property and legal to own under all state, federal, and international antique laws.
